Brush Fire at Magazine Beach Last Saturday

17 Aug

There was a big brush fire at the park on Saturday. Thankfully, no trees were affected. Thanks to the Cambridge Fire Department for putting it out! See their Twitter post below.

The park is so dry. Please be so careful about putting out cigarettes and hot coals. (Or better yet, don’t use either at the park until we have lots of rain!) And please don’t dump hot coals at the foot of our beautiful old shade trees. We need them! Sparks fly…

Thank you for being such a passionate advocate for this land, Cathy! We are all the lucky beneficiaries of your generous investment in our community! Was so nice to meet you in person the other day along the site of this brushfire.

Thanks, Ingrid, and lovely to meet you yesterday. So grateful for the board members of Magazine Beach Partners: Ken Carson, Brian Conway, Decia Goodwin, Dick Garver, Paul Lyons and Fred Yalouris. Together we have accomplished so much working with the DCR, the City, and partners the Charles River Conservancy, Mass Audubon and the Riverside Boat Club. And without YOU, community, advocating for a nicer park, none of the good things at Magazine Beach would ever have happened… Thank goodness for you!
